We don't guess. We test.

Behind every formula we develop is a real question asked in a real lab, not a trend we liked the look of. If you’re building something for skin, we think it deserves that kind of care.

Who We are

MarizĂ© Cuyler is a bioscientist with a genuine love for people, and it shows in the way she works. Based in the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences at the University of Pretoria, she holds a range of qualifications across the field, but what drives her isn’t the letters after her name. It’s the belief that skin, especially problem skin, deserves solutions grounded in real care, not quick fixes.

Her approach is rooted in natural healing: looking to indigenous South African plants and asking, honestly and rigorously, what they can do for conditions like eczema, wound healing and inflammation. She’s part of a wider research family at the university doing the same kind of work, and together they’ve built a body of published research that backs up what they believe: that nature, studied properly, has real answers for skin that struggles.

What We Do

Think of us as the people you call when you want to build something real. We can help with:

  • Custom formulation, from your first idea through to a tested, working product
  • Digging into indigenous plants for the specific outcome your brand needs
  • Testing a formula properly before it ever reaches a customer’s skin
  • Staying alongside you for the long haul, as an ongoing research partner, not a one-off supplier

The Evidence Behind the Work

We’ve published research on plants like Bulbine frutescens and several Aloe species, looking closely at how they affect wound healing, histamine response, skin barrier health and the enzymes tied to pigmentation and ageing. This isn’t shelf talk. It’s the same rigor we bring to every formulation we build with a partner brand.

Why Work With Us

Most formulation houses start with a catalogue. We start with a question, and we don’t stop until we have a real answer. If you want your brand to be able to say something true about what’s actually in the bottle, we’d love to be part of that.

Let's talk about what you're building
